Maintenance
[Network Maintenance] Montreal – WAN Router Upgrade – October 14th, 2021

Start of maintenance: October 14th, 13:00 UTC

End of maintenance: October 14th, 17:00 UTC

Reason of maintenance: i3D.net will be performing planned network maintenance in our Montreal datacenter to upgrade the WAN router and migrating circuits to this new router. This maintenance is necessary to facilitate further growth of the Montreal datacenter, as well as serving to make the aggregation core more resilient and flexible.

Expected downtime/impact: There will be reduced backbone redundancy and capacity between Montreal and Paris. There may be increased latency between Montreal and Toronto.

  • The repair works have been completed and the power is back online on the impacted suites. Our datacenter team is hands off and this incident is fixed.

  • To repair the power we will need to replace a phase that will cause the A-feed of suites to go down starting around 10:45 UTC

  • The cause is known. We will work as hard as possible to restore the power and replace the broken phase. During the replacement the power will be interrupted once more.

  • Suite 40 is also affected.

  • Field personnel have located the exact point of damage and determined the fiber was damaged due to rats. They are currently devising a repair plan.

  • The fiber technicians tested the fiber and are en route to an alternate location. Field personnel are expected to arrive at the alternate site at approximately 10:30 UTC

  • The outage is due to a fiber cut. A fiber team has been engaged but an ETA is unavailable at this time.
