The cause of the incident is currently: Known, fiber damage due to train derailment (fixed) and sub-sea cable fault (ongoing).
We have taken the following actions to resolve the incident: We are currently monitoring the situation and are in touch with our vendor regarding status updates.
Estimated time of repair: ETR is unknown for the sub-sea cable fault.
Impact: Due to the current incident on our backbone link between our Seattle and Chicago datacenters, users between these and surrounding regions may experience increased latency.

The fiber cut has been fixed. The link has been restored.
Additional to the fiber cut due to the train derailment another fault was found.
A sub-sea cable cut close to Henry Island has been identified and repair vessel is on fault location waiting for problematic tide and water currents to resolve so repair work can be started.
The damaged fiber link due to the train derailment was restored, however a separate sub-sea cable fault on this link is hindering restoration.
Our vendor is planning for repair works. We will update you on the progress as received.
