[Software Maintenance] FlexMetal Backend Maintenance – September 30, 2025

We would like to notify you of upcoming FlexMetal backend maintenance activities that will affect backend services of our FlexMetal product. The maintenance has been scheduled for September 30, 2025.

Reason for this maintenance: During this maintenance we will be migrating some backend FlexMetal data to a new cluster. This change further increases reliability, ease of use and manageability for our engineers, ultimately providing a better FlexMetal service.

Expected impact: Service Impact: FlexMetal delivery service and related API endpoints will be unavailable during the maintenance. This does not affect servers deployed using FlexMetal, only deploying new servers.

Reason for this maintenance: The maintenance is required to address difference in configuration behaviour in newer software releases. This will prevent potential issues and ensure we can maintain stability.

Expected impact: Reduced Redundancy: As the activity will be executed by one aggregation switch at the time, there is no impact expected. During this maintenance there will be reduced redundancy. This is the first maintenance from a total of four aggregators.

  • Please be informed that we observed a major outage between Hong Kong & Japan via EAC Segment AC at 21:39 UTC 6 November 2022 affecting your unprotected circuit where service will remain down until fault is permanently fixed. Our support team is investigating the issue on priority and our management and operation teams informed.

    With regards to the ongoing outage, equipment vendor has been engaged to assist investigation. Both Hong Kong and Japan Field Services team have been involved along with Marine team for joint isolation. COTDR measurement has been completed, and we have shared the measurement result with the Marine team for further analysis. The Fault is due to Repeater Fault (RC009) located 466km away from Hongkong Landing Station. Marine Team is focus to get the Faulty Repeater repaired first at the soonest possible time and working with the Maintenance Provider for permitting application/processing and Cableship mobilization.
